PENDLETON FIRE NOW 2700 ACRES

July 14, 2010 12:05 am. (Oceanside) – A brush fire at Camp Pendleton north of Oceanside has grown to over 2,700 acres, sending smoke up over much of North County.  The fire is now 60% contained, with full containment forecast for tomorrow.

 

No structures have burned or are currently threatened. However  Basilone Road is closed between Range 116 and Las Pulgas Road.  The U.S. Forest Service has joined Cal Fire, NorCom and base firefighters in battling the blaze.  

 

The fire was caused by a training exercise, a base source informed ECM earlier today.
