November 17, 2008 (Alpine) — Looking for the coolest place in East County?
The largest outdoor ice rink in Southern California is now open for the holiday season at Viejas Outlet Center in Alpine. Skating costs $12 for 90 minutes, including skates. (Watch skating live via the Viejas webcam)
An ice show extravaganza will be held Saturday, November 22nd featuring professional skaters, a visit from Santa, and San Diego’s biggest holiday tree lighting starting at 6 p.m. The Legend of the Ice Princess show will premier at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
Public ice skating costs $12 for 90 minutes, including skates. The rink is open daily through January 4, with the exception of November 21, when it will be closed. Hours through December 19 are Monday-Friday, 4-10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. On Thanksgiving, the rink will be open all night – perfect for exercising off those calories after a holiday feast!
From December 20 through January 4, the rink will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, except Christmas Day, when hours will be 4 to 10 p.m.
