July 21, 2024 (San Diego’s East County) – Extreme heat is forecast Sunday, followed by thunderstorms with dangerous lightning activity in San Diego County’s mountains and deserts.
 
Temperatures could reach 117 degrees in low deserts and 107 degrees in high deserts, posing major risks for heat-related illnesses in people, pets and livestock.
 
Early this week, thunderstorms will bring potential for heavy rain, gusty and erratic winds near storms in the mountains and high desert areas, so avoid outdoor recreation in these areas.
 
Temperatures should cool off substantially starting Thursday.
