ARSONIST SUSPECTED IN SAN CARLOS BRUSH BLAZE
May 26, 2011 (Channel 6) — SAN DIEGO – A possible arson fire scorched about two open acres in the San Carlos area early Tuesday, authorities reported.
The non-injury blaze began spreading near Golfcrest Drive and Mission Gorge Road shortly before 1 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

May 26, 2011 (10 News) — A former longtime supervisor at San Diego Gas & Electric is accusing the utility of lining its pockets on the backs of certain customers.
David Bryant, who said he was fired after complaining to superiors in person and in e-mails, filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against the power company.

COUNTY SUES OVER STATE FUNDING SHIFTS
May 20. 2011 (San Diego Union-Tribune)–SD County is mounting a legal challenge to prevent the transfer of $90 million from a local commission that administers tobacco taxes for early childhood programs. The county in a lawsuit filed Thursday claims the total statewide shift of $1 billion from early childhood development programs to state health services is illegal because it violates voter-approved Prop 10. A budget bill that moves half of reserve funds — $88.3 million for First 5 San Diego — to the state was recently approved by the Legislature and signed by Gov. Jerry Brown.

East County agency looking for ways to stabilize revenue
