ARSONIST SUSPECTED IN SAN CARLOS BRUSH BLAZE

 

May 26, 2011 (Channel 6) — SAN DIEGO – A possible arson fire scorched about two open acres in the San Carlos area early Tuesday, authorities reported.

 

The non-injury blaze began spreading near Golfcrest Drive and Mission Gorge Road shortly before 1 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

ormer Supervisor David Bryant Filed Lawsuit Against Utility

May 26, 2011 (10 News) — A former longtime supervisor at San Diego Gas & Electric is accusing the utility of lining its pockets on the backs of certain customers.

 

David Bryant, who said he was fired after complaining to superiors in person and in e-mails, filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against the power company.

Company says regulatory hurdles block recycling efforts

 

May 25, 2011 (San Diego Union-Tribune( San Diego Gas & Electric uses roughly 300,000 gallons a day of drinking water for construction of its 117-mile Sunrise Powerlink transmission line through the backcountry even though the company touted the use of recycled wastewater at its groundbreaking.

COUNTY SUES OVER STATE FUNDING SHIFTS

 

May 20. 2011 (San Diego Union-Tribune)–SD County is mounting a legal challenge to prevent the transfer of $90 million from a local commission that administers tobacco taxes for early childhood programs. The county in a lawsuit filed Thursday claims the total statewide shift of $1 billion from early childhood development programs to state health services is illegal because it violates voter-approved Prop 10. A budget bill that moves half of reserve funds — $88.3 million for First 5 San Diego — to the state was recently approved by the Legislature and signed by Gov. Jerry Brown.

SWEETWATER OFFICIAL COMPLAINTS OF FORGERY
Letter sent to parents regarded Montgomery High School’s federal status

May 20, 2011 (San Diego Union-Tribune)–A Sweetwater Union High School District administrator who is facing demotion has filed a complaint with the district, saying her signature was placed on a letter sent to about 1,400 parents without her consent.

PADRE WATER MAY LOWER RATES, BOOST FEES
East County agency looking for ways to stabilize revenue

May 18, 2011 (San Diego Union-Tribune)–The Padre Dam Municipal Water District is looking to reduce water rates, but consumers may not see lower monthly bills because the agency is also weighing a hike in its fixed fees.

“It’s budgeted to be a wash,” said Bill Pommering, district board president.
