Printer-friendly version September 26, 2010 (Rancho San Diego) – Some lucky golfer could go home a millionaire in the Rancho San Diego-Jamul Chamber of Commerce 3rd annual “It’s in the Hole” golf tournament. The event will take place at Cottonwood Golf Course in Rancho San Diego on October 22. A $125 entry fee includes green fees, cart, lunch, dinner, and a chance to win $1 million. A second prize of $10,000 will also be offered, along with other prizes. Sponsors for wounded military players are also wanted ($99 per player). Foursome rates of $500 are also available. After October 5, rates go up to $150 per person or $600 per foursome. Registration starts at 1 0 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. Professional players are welcome, but must register at least 15 days in advance. Tournament sponsorships are available. The event is limited to 144 players and a sellout is expected. INJURIES IN MEXICO FROM FIRE THAT HAS NOW BURNED 6 ACRES IN U.S. AND 500 ACRES IN MEXICO

September 26, 2010 (Tecate) 6:20 p.m. – Incident Page Network reports that a firetruck was overtaken by the fire at the U.S.- Mexico border fire shortly after 4 p.m. today. Cal-Fire spokesman Mike Mohler said he also received word that a fire truck may have burned but was unable to confirm. However he assured, “All the firefighters are fine; a couple of civilians in Mexico were burned or injured and were transported to a medical facility in Mexico.” Cal-Fire is looking at sending some engines into Mexico, he said. Additional resources have been ordered. There are no evacuations and no structures are threatened, Mohler confirmed. Currently the Border 11 fire is now six acres on the U.S. side of the border, but has burned a much vaster area in Mexico, kicking up smoke visible across East County. CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire Authority has moved resources to the Tecate point of entry. Air Attack 330 is now equipped with a camera and downlink system that the ground incident commander can view real time to see how the fire is burning across the border. “This is the first Air Attack to have this system and it has proved itself as a major tool in the firefighting arsenal,” Cal Fire’s Mohler said.
