ARTISTS’ RECEPTION Oct. 19 for 6th EL CAJON INVITATIONAL ART EXHIBIT

Printer-friendly version By Jolene Crowley Sisters III by Sammy Pasto (El Cajon) – The public is invited to a free artists’ reception hosted by the St. Clair Gallery in East County Business Center on Sunday, Oct. 19 from 3-6 p.m.  Nearly 200 pieces of art in all fine art categories will be displayed, including photography by 22 San Diego artists, about 70 percent of whom are East County residents. St. Clair’s Gallery was the brain child of gallery Director Howard Bagley, himself an artist and photographer, and past-president of the Carlsbad/Oceanside Art League.  “Our objective,” he says, “is to enhance the presence of fine art in the community, provide a venue for seasoned and emerging artists, offer art as a catalyst for bringing the people of the community together, and allowing sales opportunities for artists.” Another Beginning by Terry Hecker So far, it’s been quite a success. Since January, the East County Business Center has exhibited six shows. Those who lease space in the building are treated to a new display of work every six weeks by a gaggle of artists who are invited to display up to six pieces representative of their current body of work.  In addition to the tenants occupying the center, another 300-400 clients and guests pass through the building each month providing further exposure for the work. Half-way through each exhibit, an artists’ reception is held such as the one this Sunday afternoon. Plus, private receptions for service clubs, networking groups and charitable organizations are scheduled in the gallery.  A measurement of the success is the 32 two pieces, totaling nearly $12,000, that have been sold to date. Lake Mary Morning by Dan McGeorge Artists’ work in the main hallway for the current show that runs through Nov. 7 include Gale Vavra, Ron Lingren, Judi Sim, Jackie Hanson, Terry Hecker, Jeffrey Brosbe, Jack Jordan, Sandra Hayen, Dot Renshaw, Yumi, Gloria Chadwick, Diane Burch, Linda Renner, Paul Bentley, Brandie Moon, Liz Abeyta, Nell Bartlett, Cindy Hedgecock, Sammy Pasto, Charlavan Hart, Dan McGeorge and George Kaerth.
