FIRE AT CUYAMACA PEAK

 

September 5, 2009 (San Diego’s East County) – A 5 to 10 acre brush fire is burning at the base of Cuyamaca Peak.. The blaze was reported at 1:20 p.m. near the Boulder Creek community in the vicinity of Creek Road and Tule Springs Truck Trail.

 

 

CAL FIRE is assisting the U.S. Forest Service in battling the blaze, which has a slow to moderate rate of spread but is holding within fire retardant lines thus far, CAL FIRE reports. CAL FIRE has dispatched seven engines, two fire crews, one bulldozer, one water tender, four air tankers, two helicopters, 75 firefighters and a chief officer to the scene. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
